Born in Australia, Ken Allen, as he is more popularly known, has been in business for 50 years. He was born during World War 11, to working class parents who through great hardship during and after the war, somehow found enough food to feed their family of three children.

At thirteen years and ten months old he began work in Sydney. Australia was in dire need for workers after such a high proportion of its men were killed during the war. His first job was as a messenger boy in Sydney for a film distributor. His boss was tough but the experience of such an early demanding work ethic, served him throughout his life.

At 15 years old, he moved on to the first job which introduced him to writing and publishing. From that time until he was married at 21 years, he learnt his craft and began his never ending world travelling experiences.
In his early twenties, Ken chartered a Cruise ship called the Kuala Lumpur and sailed the South Pacific Islands for 30 days with 430 passengers. the cruise pioneered modern day South Pacific Cruising.

Ken at the same time produced many movie films, one of which won the highest award at the Australian Film Institute Awards in 1965. He also had a film crew on board the Kuala Lumpur and produced one of his films on the historic cruise.

Although his joy of writing began during his school days when his essays were often complimented, to his embarrassment in front of his class mates. He began

thinking maybe he had a work future in writing a short time later, when at 15 years old, (today’s developed world’s youth don’t begin work these days at 13!) he entered and won a short story competition, with a story called “The Ridin’ Fool.

Just a few years later he began working as an editor of several monthly journals and magazines. He honed his engagement with authors and the English language during those years.

Ken has travelled the world more than 300 times by land, air and sea. It has given him the opportunity to live with people of many different races and beliefs. He loved them all. People are kind and great everywhere. He has been “walkabout” with a tribe of Australian Aborigines in the harsh Australian bush. What an opportunity he had to embrace friendships with the oldest nomadic people in the world!

During the past 20 years he has served on several company boards and founded a National Auto Finance Company which he still owns. His parents told him as a young boy; “Hard work won’t kill you son.” They were right. Ken has worked non stop for 62 years and never slows down.

Joan is his wife of 57 years. Without her, he would never have achieved what he has done.

They have 3 Adult Children, (2 manage his finance business) 13 grandchildren and 5 great grand children, most of whom live in or grew up in their small village 200 klms north of Sydney. Their eldest son and his family live in the Philippines, where they own a successful business.

“I will continue to work and write until I embark on my final journey.

I have truly been blessed.”
